4.9.4. Jellyfish

Answer IPA Informants
jellyfish   V, VII, X, XI, XII
scalder IX
slubbers  XV, XVI
swither(s) I, II, III, VI, VIII, XIII, XIV

Scalder, slubber and swither are all listed in SND as meaning "jellyfish". A pattern concerning the distribution of these words can be observed, however. Whereas swither(s) is equally distributed all along the coast, scalder is limited to the East Neuk of Fife (it was the second answer of informant XIII) and slubbers is only used in Gourdon.
